Conversations in native stones

The first element of the exhibition showing at Aspex is a response to my visits to quarries around the UK. Each of these carved works is a conversation between their landscape, their geology and how they have been worked at the quarries. The works are in stone from Portland, Clipsham, Berwyn slate, Ham Hill and Mandale limestone from the Peak District. In the gallery, each of these stones is accompanied with a text pannel, documenting my experience of working with each particular type of stone supported by Geological notes provided by Urban Geologist Ruth Siddal.
