work it out

Project update: February 2014

Over the last couple of months I’ve been giving a lot of thought to what I want Stonecarved to do. Thinking more about how I want it to behave more than the work I’ll produce. It’s a different way for me to approach work, thinking about what will happen around the work, rather than the work itself.

From conversations will folk I know working with stone, my hunch is that there is a real opportunity to profile stone as an important contemporary material and also ask critical questions of whose words, thoughts ideas are memorialised in stone.

I’ve initial ideas for the work and how it will explore the themes for the project. So now it’s about planning so I make the most of my research window and get to a place where I’m confident about the work, how it will behave and be experienced.
